Q1 - How did your childhood influence your work ethic and attitude towards business?
My Dad was strict. If homework wasn’t written neat enough, let alone done well enough, he drew a line through it and made us start again. Working hard was hugely important and I had part time jobs from the age of 16.
Q2 - What do you believe the principles of a successful business are today? Hard work! Passion and resilience.
Q3 - Looking back, what was your best business decision?
Meeting my business partner Oliver Mennell (don’t tell him). He’s great at all the stuff I’m not and vice versa.
Q4 - Who has influenced you the most through your career?
Oliver and my Dad.
Q5 - What was your most difficult / worst business decision?
Most decisions are hard, you have to rely on your gut for so much and that’s a risk. People who may or may not fit, shops that may or may not be in the right location, products that may fly…or may not. They don’t all work out and you have to learn to be fine with that and move on.
Q6 - What would you say was the single most advantageous character trait for success?
Q7 - What happens when you’re stressed or overwhelmed?
I’ve had awful anxiety over the years which I learn to manage naturally by taking care of my wellbeing. So if I’m stressed I take myself for a jog, eat some really good foods, ditch the caffeine for a bit and get meditating in a bath filled with our Scent to De Stress - a total life saver!
Q8 - How do you invest in your own wellbeing. How do you look after yourself? see above….but all the time, that’s the key, keeping it front and centre of your world even if you’re busy. I have my own wellbeing checklist and it’s all about the small moments - making them really work hard for me.
Q9 - If you could change one thing about the spa and wellness industry what would it be and why?
More drop in options….a day you book a month in advance is lovely, but sometimes you need to pop in on the hoof.
Q10 - Finally, What’s your favourite quote or the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Learn to be calm and you’ll always be happy.
11.You want to sleep deeply, what do you do? Neom 3 step program - light the Tranquillity Candle, have a bath with the Bath and Shower Drops and spray the Perfect Night’s sleep pillow mist.
