Q1 - How did your childhood influence your work ethic and attitude towards business?
I grew up in a City where most people I knew were working for themselves

Q2 - What do you believe the principles of a successful business are today?

Integrity, patience, kindness and understanding, listening clearly to what the person is saying and meeting their needs. Be empathetic, supporting and encouraging to them to meet their goals.

Q3 - Looking back, what was your best business decision?

Deciding on what were my specific USP's, my specialism. I had a real passion for aiding others to be the best they can be in their career or education especially in international areas.

Q4 - Who has influenced you the most through your career?

Anita Roddick , I worked for the Body Shop for a number of years and learned so much in business skills and knowledge. Also every person I meet who may have been in the industry for many years or just joined. I believe you have something to learn from everyone you meet, know matter how small, it can be something of outstanding value to your career.

Q5 - What was your most difficult / worst business decision?

Leaving a very good company to seek my own business path. It was one of the hardest decisions, but it all worked out.

Q6 - What would you say was the single most advantageous character trait for success?

Passion for what you are doing - it is like a magnet.

Q7 - What happens when you’re stressed or overwhelmed?

On goes my music and time out with a good book, sleep on it and talk to colleagues in the industry. It helps to give clarity and support sometimes, we over think things.

Q8 - How do you invest in your own wellbeing. How do you look after yourself?

Always switch off at the weekends as soon as possible to recharge the body and mind. Have a full works spa treatment when travelling internationally.

Q9 - If you could change one thing about the spa and wellness industry what would it be and why?

That every person know matter their income would be able to receive spa and wellness treatments.

Q10 - Finally, What’s your favourite quote or the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Keep Learning! My favourite quote. "We should never stop learning".


1. What’s your favourite book?

I know why Cage Birds Sing - Maya Angelou - deeply moving.

2. What’s your favourite film of all time?

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. A strong independent woman following her dreams and passion.

3. If you could have dinner with anyone, past or present, who would it be and why?

Stephen Fry, he has a wealth of knowledge and is light hearted and I could listen to him for hours.

4. You get taken to your favourite place to be, where are you taken?

Penang Malaysia - Absolute Paradise

5. Your perfect dinner is?

Muscles and Garlic Bread with Veuve Cliquot Champagne divine!

6. Your go to drink is?

Baileys Original the smooth texture and taste is just well! My home is never without it.

7. Your favourite sweet treat is?

Hargan-Dazs Ice with Cream Macadamia Nuts.... oooh!

8. What’s your favourite essential oil / scent?

Jasmin - The deep sensual smell of contentment.

9. You go for a treatment - what do you have and why?

Full body scrub, wrap, mask and massage we tend to give the face a lot of care, however the body needs this too. Leaves it feeling detoxed, soft and smooth followed by an excellent night’s sleep....ooh total relaxation.

10.What’s your favourite flower?

To be honest I am not a flower or even plant person, just not my thing.

11.You want to sleep deeply, what do you do?

Classical music Bach

12.You want to energise fast, what do you do?

Nip into my Joe and Juice for an energiser drink, made of apple, pink grapefruit ( omg I love grapefruit) and ginger a real zing to the system.

13.The theme tune to your life is?

I am so excited and I just can’t hide it. When I have a real passion for something I get so excited.

14.What makes you laugh to your belly?

Funny carefree people. Real life situations I can associate with and when dogs do daft things.

15.What’s your favourite season?

Winter. Christmas, deep snow for me to run through and then, warm inside the home with a cup of hot chocolate snuggled up with a book or good film.

16. What’s your favourite colour?

Red it is the most amazing alive colour, anything red is a magnet for me. I am like a magpie for anything the colour red.

17. Your favourite time of day is?

Late evening after 8pm, chill out time.

18. If you could have been anyone or anything else, what / who would you be?

I would have loved to be a dancer, the freedom of expression and the sound of the music to drift away into your own world. I adore music.

19. What’s your current TV guilty secret?

I love horror, Syfy and medical shows such as 911 what’s your emergency, casualty and holby.

20. Magic dust - you can learn one new skill instantly, what is it?

Learn to play the Saxophone, I used to play the clarinet so not too different.

Technical & Strategic Business Consultancy & Trainer, specialising in business start-ups and business turn around through motivating individuals and leading multi-skilled teams to achieve their full potential, quality assurance checks, compliance documentation and expert witness services.

She has worked in the beauty industry for over 30 years, in the areas of beauty, spa,
sports, nails, holistic therapy and medical aesthetics. She has developed her
knowledge and experience through working in her own business and for large
international corporations and small medium enterprises, completing successful
tenure as chairman for a UK regulated, international awarding body and beauty
insurance companies.

Kim continues to serve as a Non-executive director on various industry boards in the
UK and internationally. To name a few,The UK Spa Association, Colour Face Group
of Companies, Singapore and Committee member for the HABIA/Skills Active
Register of Professional Therapist. Kim also continues to work as an international
Examinations Officer for an International Ofqual Regulated Beauty Awarding Body
and Expert Witness for the industry.

Kim's expertise led her to be approached by higher education establishments and
has lectured beauty students, in private, FE schools and colleges, both in the UK
and internationally.

Kim has extensive experience working in the UK, European and International
markets, in salons, spas, fmc and educational establishments travelling globally,
visiting 30 countries and 105 cities. This has given Kim a wealth of experience in the
industry, working with different cultures, nationalities, educational systems and
liaised with educational and government departments.

Kim’s passion is to share her knowledge, skills and experience with all across the
industry, to aid in maintaining and raising professional skills, knowledge and
standards across the industry, so the therapist of the future are of the highest
professional standards.
