Q&A
Q1 - How did your childhood influence your work ethic and attitude towards business?
From a young age, I always had to do jobs at home for pocket money. I have always loved being independent & earning my own money! My father would have always worked hard at his job – but it was his passion, so for him it never felt like work.
Q2 - What do you believe the principles of a successful business are today?
Be unique, be true to yourself,
Put the customer first,
Have integrity in all that you do
Share success with others…
Q3 - Looking back, what was your best business decision?
To set up on my own, build a website & go for it!
Q4 - Who has influenced you the most through your career?
I am so lucky to have worked with incredible mentors over the years – but I would have to say my husband Shane has always been there, rooting for me & believing in me.
Q5 - What was your most difficult/worst business decision?
In business, you must watch the bottom line – not just the top line…I have learnt the hard way, cash flow will not look after itself. You must stay on it & watch it like a hawk!
Q6 - What would you say was the single most advantageous character trait for success?
Passion & Consistency – Love what you do & keep sharpening the saw.
Q7 - What happens when you’re stressed or overwhelmed?
Take a step back from what’s bothering you, do something else entirely & rest. When you return to it with energy, you see it with new perspective.
Q8 - How do you invest in your own wellbeing. How do you look after yourself?
Only in recent years have I learnt to look after myself in terms of time on my own & dancing to my own beat. Eating well & spending precious time with my family – doing what makes me happy.
Q9 - If you could change one thing about the spa and wellness industry what would it be and why?
I wish therapists were paid better – for me, they are the unsung hero in this industry!
Q10 - Finally, what’s your favourite quote or the best advice you’ve ever been given?
“Nothing is good or as bad, but thinking makes it so” William Shakepere
This quote grounds me… it stops me giving situations or people power over how I feel.
